ROMNEY NOMINATES LYNN C. ROONEY TO DEDHAM DISTRICT COURT

 

Governor Mitt Romney today nominated Lynn C. Rooney of Concord to the position of Associate Justice for the Dedham District Court.

 

Rooney has served as Deputy First Assistant District Attorney in Middlesex County for the past seven years. Prior to that, she served in various positions in Middlesex County including Chief of the Child Abuse and Family Protection Units and Deputy Chief of Child Abuse Prosecution. Rooney has also served on the Child Fatality Review Team for Middlesex County since 2000.

 

Before joining the office of the Middlesex District Attorney, Rooney practiced family law at Witmer & Thuotte from 1993 to 1994. Rooney gained legal experience as a paralegal with Ballin & Levine and Foster & Foster Attorneys, where she supported attorneys in personal injury and civil litigation.

 

Rooney graduated with her bachelor’s degree from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst in 1986 and received her law degree cum laude from Boston College Law School in 1989.

ROMNEY NOMINATES ANDREW R. GRAINGER TO APPEALS COURT

 

Governor Mitt Romney today nominated Andrew R. Grainger of Boston as Associate Justice of the Appeals Court.

 

Grainger currently serves as President of the New England Legal Foundation, a public interest law foundation that participates in state and federal appellate cases involving significant business and economic issues.

 

Prior to joining the New England Legal Foundation, Grainger was a partner at the Boston law firm of Peabody & Brown (now Nixon Peabody LLP) and Associate General Counsel in charge of litigation at Bank of New England Corporation. He has also taught Commercial Restructure as an Adjunct Professor at the Morin Center for Banking Law Studies at Boston University.

 

Grainger is past Chair and current Director of Arts Boston, an umbrella organization supporting more than 160 arts groups in eastern Massachusetts. He has also served as a volunteer court-appointed mediator in the Norfolk County District Court, and has provided pro bono legal services to non-profit organizations and programs, including the Dana Farber Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Program.

 

Grainger began his legal career as an Assistant Attorney General to New Hampshire Attorneys General David Souter and Thomas Rath.

 

Grainger graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Harvard College in 1969 and received a law degree from the University of Michigan Law School in 1976.
