ROMNEY NOMINATES HINKLE, BOLDEN TO DISTRICT COURT

 

Governor Mitt Romney today nominated Marianne Hinkle of Brookline as Associate Justice of the Dedham District Court and Michael C. Bolden of Milton as Associate Justice of the Roxbury Division of the Boston Municipal Court.

 

Since 1997, Hinkle has been an Assistant United States Attorney, currently serving as the Chief of the Community Prosecution and Crime Reduction Unit. From 1984 to 1997, Hinkle worked as an Assistant District Attorney in Norfolk County, overseeing the Sexual Assault Unit from 1985 to 1992 and Sexual Assault and Family Violence Litigation from 1992 to 1997.

 

Hinkle has been involved in a number of community-based intervention activities, including the Boston and Essex County Re-Entry Initiatives and the Ceasefire program in Brockton.

 

Hinkle earned her bachelor’s degree cum laude from Boston University and her law degree cum laude from Suffolk University Law School.

 

For the last three years, Bolden has served as the state’s Commission of Youth Services. From 1999 to 2002, he worked as an Undersecretary of the Executive Office of Public Safety, heading the terrorism and domestic preparedness efforts in the immediate wake of 9/11.

 

From 1990 to 1999, Bolden was a prosecutor, serving as the Executive Assistant District Attorney for Norfolk County, Chief of the District Courts for Suffolk County and as Assistant United States Attorney.

 

Bolden also worked as Assistant Corporation Counsel for the City of Boston from 1984 to 1990 and as Middlesex County Assistant District Attorney from 1981 to 1984.

 

Bolden graduated with his bachelor’s degree from Bates College in 1975 and his law degree from Suffolk University Law School in 1978.
