Conservatives
Conservatives believes individuals should be responsible for their economic and moral choices.
Conservatives believe that efforts to remove the law of the harvest will harm society. We should not try to remove consequences for your behavior. If you smart off all the way through high school, skip class, and stuff, society should not concern itself with trying to ensure that your life is just as good as those who follow the rules of the harvest.
Liberals try to remove natural consequences from bad behavior. Somewhat liberals will say that life is not fair, and that they are trying to make sure that everyone starts at the same starting place. Truly radical liberals don’t only want to ensure that everyone has an equal start in the game in life, they want to ensure that both the hard workers and anti-social members of society have equal outcomes.
A voter could ask a politicians to place themselves on a scale from 1 to 10, where 1 is a liberal that believes government should enforce a Marxist utopia where everyone has the exact same wages, and a 10 is ultra-conservative who believes in survival of the fittest, no welfare at all, no unions, no minimum wage, no public parks, no public streets, just armed militias that the wealthy use to protect themselves with.
When people throw around words like liberals and conservatives do they really think that they are having an intelligent debate that addresses where a candidate is on this scale, or does the accusation have the intellectual equivalent of a football game? Go home team!
No one someone calls someone a liberal or a conservative, they don’t usually want to talk specifics, or try to understand the candidates belief of where personal responsibility should be balanced with the inequalities of life.
