Jane Wallis Gumble

Director, Department of Housing and Community Development

 

For the last decade, Ms. Gumble has worked for the Massachusetts Department of Housing and Community Development and its predecessor agency, the Executive Office of Communities and Development. Since 1996, Ms. Gumble had served as Director of this cabinet-level state agency under Governors Weld, Cellucci and Swift. She has won praise for her oversight of housing and anti-poverty programs from both housing advocates and the development community, having won several awards for her work, including the 2001 Citizens Housing and Planning Association Community Service Award, the 2002 Home Builders Association's President's Citation Award and the 2002 Massachusetts Community Action Program Directors Association Self- Sufficiency Public Service Award. A lawyer, Ms. Gumble is a former partner at Awdeh & Co., a national real estate development firm.
