Why is my brother homeless? Well he is mentally ill, and our system does not handle mentally ill people well.

Perceived advantages of homelessness

He is picky about the food that he was getting when he was institutionalized, and as a homeless person he was able to eat at a buffet once a day and get all he could eat.

Perceived disadvantages of homelessness

Even in LA he says that he gets cold. He tells me that there are about 100,000 homelessness living in LA and that because of all the people, it can be difficult to find a place to stay.

The support network

My parents are 72, and my brother still shows up at their house wanting things. I’m worried about their safety. My parents are getting older, and they have worked and worried their whole lives, and this has been a stress on their lives for the past 11 years, when they should be enjoying their retirement.

Good Memories

Before he started having problems, he would spend hours with me in the front yard working on basketball. He used to be so graceful. He was a very good basket bacll player.
