My interest in politics

My interest in politics began at family dinners with my Uncle Earl Hardy (founder of the Idaho Trout Company, a self made millionaire who drove an old pick-up truck and worked 60 hours a week into his 70s). My political interest continued in Jr. High and High school and my mom would even take me out of class each year for my birthday to watch the senatorial proceedings at the capital building in Boise. On one of these trips I considered working as a page; however my uncle said that someone should make something out of himself first before going into politics. I don’t know that I have done that yet, but here I am.

I was interested in political debate at a very early age. In fact I read the communist manifesto in the 7th grade, on conditions the other guy would read one of my books. When teaching forestry classes as a Boy Scout camp counselor I would interject quotes from Rush Limbaugh as well as Chief Seattle that seemed to apply.
