Clinton, Romney ahead in Michigan

"The poll from Lansing's EPIC-MRA finds Clinton with a 19-point lead over the Democratic field. Among those saying they'll vote in the Republican primary, Michigan native Mitt Romney leads at 25 percent, followed by ex-New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani at 23 percent. Former Tennessee senator and television star Fred Thompson, who will formally enter the GOP race next week, is at 16 percent, with Arizona Sen. John McCain, winner of Michigan's 2000 primary, at 15 percent."

Resident impressed with meeting Mitt Romney

"Desiree Voegele might have slept late Friday morning, but something nagged at her. She wanted to meet Mitt Romney.

 

"'I figured if I was awake by that time, I would go,' she said.

 

"Glad she got up early, Voegele was among those who greeted Romney, a leading Republican presidential hopeful, during his 8 a.m. campaign stop at the Aiken Center for the Arts."

"Romney's emphasis on health care issues rang true with Voegele, whose husband L. Dieter Voegele is one of the cardiac surgeons who helped launch the heart program at Aiken Regional Medical Centers. During his remarks, Romney targeted Democratic presidential frontrunner Hillary Clinton."

Illegal immigrants – he has no problem with immigration, just the illegals, so people do need to be documented when they come through. He made a lot of sense.'"...
