The estate tax is economically counterproductive.
Reasons to agree
- Why would a millionaire work any more after making his first million dollars, if it isn't so that he can establish a dynasty? The only thing that keeps millionaires working is the belief that they can make a great name for themselves, in the future, getting all their kids, grand-kids, and great grandkids to go to Harvard, and get married to other millionaires.
- If you pass an estate tax law, you will cause your richest citizens to move to places that don't have an estate tax, and you will actually loose more money for the goverment than you will gain.
