Forward Party

Topic: Politics > Political Parties > Forward Party

Core Principles

These are not policy positions. They are commitments to how we lead, how we govern, and how we treat one another.

  1. Rule of law, respect for the constitution
  2. Support and strengthen democracy to restore the voters' voice
  3. American Leadership
  4. Build from the bottom up, not the top down
  5. Use data to drive collaborative and effective solutions, regardless of their ideological source
  6. Innovation and entrepreneurship are central to American culture and our future
  7. Individual liberty, personal responsibility, and civic engagement
  8. Treat everyone with respect and dignity
  9. Act with ethics, integrity, and compassion

Most political parties tell you what to think. The Forward Party is different: it tells you how to think. Rather than starting with ideological conclusions and working backward to cherry-picked evidence, Forward Party candidates commit to transparent, evidence-based reasoning on every issue. The position comes after the analysis, not before it.

That is what it means to be a Process Party.

How Forward Party Differs from Traditional Parties

Dimension Traditional Parties Forward Party
Starting Point Ideological positions Evidence-based analysis
Policy Development Party platform dictates positions Systematic reasoning determines positions
Debate Style Defend the party line Organize all reasons to agree and disagree
Evidence Treatment Cherry-pick supporting data Evaluate all evidence systematically
Handling Opposition Attack or dismiss Identify legitimate interests, seek compromise
Position Updates Rare — looks like flip-flopping Expected when new evidence emerges
Competitive Advantage Tribal loyalty and fundraising Intellectual honesty and problem-solving

The Process Party Commitment

Forward Party candidates do not arrive at positions in advance and then defend them. They commit to showing their work. For every major policy proposal, that means:

Political decisions are treated like hypotheses that must be tested against evidence — not tribal loyalty markers that must be defended at all costs.

2028 Vision

Five concrete goals for Colorado and the nation by 2028:

Goal How We Get There
Major election reforms adopted
Ranked-choice voting, proportional representation, independent redistricting
Build an evidence base using tiered verification. Address objections transparently through automated conflict resolution. Partner with Braver Angels for cross-partisan support.
Forward candidates winning local and state races
School boards, city councils, state legislature, statewide offices
Demonstrate transparent reasoning on local issues. Recruit candidates committed to process-based governance. Build reputation for problem-solving over partisan posturing.
Voters have real choice and feel represented
Citizens empowered to participate meaningfully
Use one page per topic methodology to organize public input. Facilitate transparent debate where all voices contribute reasons and evidence. Show how citizen input influences actual decisions.
Colorado becomes a national model for depolarization
Recognized for collaborative problem-solving across partisan divides
Identify shared interests underlying opposing positions. Use cognitive bias detection to expose manipulation tactics. Build infrastructure for evidence-based public discourse.
Known for integrity, problem-solving, and practical governance
Substantive policy analysis over performative politics
Conduct cost-benefit analyses for all major initiatives. Apply accountability standards to our own proposals. Establish objective criteria for evaluating success.
