• House: 2-year terms → frequent accountability
• Senate: 6-year staggered → balance stability and accountability
• President: 4-year terms, 2-term limit → prevents monarchy
• Judiciary: Lifetime appointments → independence

Why this promotes good ideas:

1. Electoral accountability: Bad ideas lose you next election
2. Term limits: Prevent entrenchment of single perspective
3. Regular refreshment: New people bring new ideas
4. Varied time horizons: Different terms create different planning horizons

Modern engineering analog: Scheduled system updates bring new features; long-running processes are periodically restarted to clear accumulated errors.

What the Founders would add today: Likely would reconsider judicial lifetime appointments given modern lifespans; might add term limits for Congress; would probably require sunset reviews of major programs.
