Governor Mitt Romney today appointed Christopher Moore, a partner at the Boston law firm Goodwin Procter LLP, to the State Ethics Commission.
“Chris Moore has spent a career advising clients in complex litigation and on matters of corporate ethics,” said Romney. “His expertise and knowledge make him an ideal candidate for the Ethics Commission.”
Established in 1978, the State Ethics Commission is charged with enforcing the Commonwealth’s conflict of interest laws. The agency also provides free legal advice, education and other information regarding the state’s conflict of interest and financial disclosure laws.
The State Ethics Commission consists of five members who are appointed to staggered five-year terms. The Governor appoints three of the commission members with the Secretary of State and Attorney General each appointing one member. According to the law, no more than two members of the commission can be enrolled in the same political party. Moore, an unenrolled voter, replaces retired Judge Elizabeth Dolan, also an unenrolled voter whose term had expired.
Moore specializes in litigating complex business disputes for financial services, real estate and commercial aviation clients. He has advised public and private companies on civil and criminal matters, including investigations by the SEC and other state and federal law enforcement agencies. Moore currently represents the country’s largest state pension fund and one of the largest private real estate development concerns.

Moore is a member of the Bars of Massachusetts and the District of Columbia. He is admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit and the District of Massachusetts.
Moore is a graduate of Cornell University and Northwestern University School of Law. He resides with his wife, Kathleen, and their two children in Sherborn.
