"Mitt Romney may be the closest candidate to Ronald Reagan currently seeking the office of president.

"Romney evoked Reagan's legacy repeatedly when he addressed Elkoans at Monday's campaign stop, promising to focus on making America strong through the spirit of individualism under limited government. The message, along with his emphasis on conservative moral values and the primary role of families in strengthening society, resonated well with the crowd.

"Political commentators have compared Romney with Reagan not only in his political views but his demeanor. The former Massachusetts governor?s frequent use of humor and refusal to mince words appeared to be from the same mold, as well."

...

"With his weekend victory in Iowa?s straw poll and his strong presence in early primary states, however, we expect Romney to be a top contender when Nevada?s caucus rolls around.

"His decision to stop in Nevada after the first unofficial voting in the election indicates Romney places value in the state. And his decision to make Elko his first campaign stop in Nevada underscores the importance of our community in selecting the next president."
