How extreme the phrasing of the claim is, and how many principles someone is willing to violate to advance it, are separate dimensions measured in Spectrums 2 and 3. 💪 Spectrum 2: Claim Magnitude (Weak ↔ Strong)
This spectrum captures how extreme or absolute the phrasing of a claim is, independent of whether it is true and independent of which direction the claim runs. A weak pro-topic claim and a weak anti-topic claim are both modest assertions -- they just point in opposite directions. The Belief Score, calculated dynamically from linked pro and con sub-arguments, separately indicates how well-supported any given claim actually is. Spectrum 2 just identifies the structural magnitude of the assertion so that equivalent claims can be matched and grouped correctly.

The ISE requires engaging with the best version of the opposing argument, not the loudest one.

⚡ Spectrum 3: Civic Engagement Level (Passive ↔ Active)
This captures how actively someone is willing to act on their position -- not how extreme their belief is (Spectrum 2) or which direction it runs (Spectrum 1). Two people can hold identical beliefs at identical magnitudes and still differ enormously in how much they are willing to sacrifice to advance them. Mapping this dimension separately prevents the ISE from conflating conviction with action, and action with extremism.

Key insight: The three spectrums are fully independent. Someone can hold a moderate-magnitude claim (Spectrum 2 = 50%) about a cause they feel lukewarm about (Spectrum 1 = +35%) and still be willing to go to prison for it (Spectrum 3 = Level 4).
