Mitt Romney Fights

Mitt Romney was a valedictorian English Major, before he got his Law Degree and MBA from Harvard. I think he is very careful with the words that he uses. That is why I am trying to dissect each of his press releases, and public statements. I am trying to figure him out.

Here are some of the quotes of his that use the word "fight". I'm not very detail oriented, and so if someone wants to do a more thorough search of his public statements, feel free to get in touch with me.

He uses the word fight to describe his fight for perscription drugs for seniors, the fight against terrorism, and crime. He complains about the inefficiency from infighting between different government agencies.

Not to exciting I know, but we need to fully understand Mitt before we give him the keys to the country.

"One constant complaint among members of previous administrations — both Democratic and Republican — has been the recurrence of conflicts between different agencies pursuing opposing policy agendas. One example: the Department of Environmental Affairs and the Department of Transportation and Construction have often sought to block each other’s projects. The result has been reduced progress both in terms of infrastructure development and environmental protection. At the same time, staff resources and taxpayer dollars are wasted. We cannot afford to tolerate this kind of bureaucratic infighting. By bringing Environment and Transportation together under the auspices of the Office of Commonwealth Development, we won’t". He added, “We are fortunate to have such an effective fighting force, but we cannot rest on our laurels. We need to improve other core elements of our homeland security plan and these federal grants will be instrumental in our efforts to ensure our first responders have the resources they need.” Source: July 23, 2003 Press Release

“The reality of forensic analysis may not be as flashy as it is on television, but there is no question it is becoming more and more important to crime solving,” said Romney. “Investing in a state of the art facility is essential to our efforts to fight crime in Massachusetts.” Source: August 24, 2005 Press Release

"From the day that the colonists in Massachusetts took up their arms to secure their liberty to the present day, Americans have had to fight to protect the freedom that makes our country great," said Romney. "The men and women who have volunteered and who are now serving our country in the global war on terror deserve our support." Source: August 31, 2005 Press Release

“Stun guns have proven time and time again when used by law enforcement officers in other states that they are an effective tool in stopping suspects,” said Romney. “It is high time for our men and women in blue to utilize this modern crime fighting technology.” Source: July 15, 2004 Press Release

“This is partisanship pure and simple,” Romney said. “The Democrats would rather not have someone fighting for transportation money, for pollution regulations, to prevent base closures in our state if it means a Republican governor is going to make an appointment.” Source: July 23, 2004 Press Release
