Romney will be too old

Romney will be too old in 2012.

Reasons to disagree:

  1. Romney is in good health. Romney is still running. Romney doesn't smoke.
  2. You don't have to run for two terms. You could run for one term like McCain.
  3. Fred Thompson ran for President when he was 65. People never talked about his age, except Mike Huckabee, who made a round about joke about Fred Thompson needing to eat more .
  4. Clinton is 61. She would be 69 at the end of her 2nd term. Not too different than 73.
  5. We don't need people to be at their "physical peak". Old people know more than young people. We need them to be wise.

Reasons to agree

  1. Ann Romney will probably be doing worse.
  2. Romney is 60 now. He would be 65, if he won. That is only 7 years younger than John McCain is right now. Romney would be 69 at the end of his first term, and 73 at the end of a 2nd term. Today, a 65-year-old American man can expect to live to 81.6. Romney will be pushing that age barrier, only expected to live 6 more years after he is out of office. It may be more with a non-smoker who runs, but 6 years before you die not at your peak.
